Honor Societies
Honor societies recognize student excellence, can promote understanding of a subject, and provide a means by which students can network and move forward in their academic careers. The following societies and organizations are affiliated with Saint Andrew's School.

National Honor Society for Dance Arts
Cum Laude Society - The Cum Laude Society, a national independent school honor society, was established at Saint Andrew's School in 1968. Membership in the Society is the highest academic honor awarded by the school. At commencement, seniors who have been elected to membership are designated as graduating "Cum Laude," with praise.
Mu Alpha Theta - Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society with over 108,000 student members, in June 2015, in more than 2200 schools. Mu Alpha Theta is dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of high school math and two-year college students.
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica - The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and/or Portuguese, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The mission of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and Portuguese and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.
Science National Honor Society - The Science National Honor Society is a prominent scientific organization that aims to inspire a new group of young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration. Among other objectives, this honor society pledges to encourage and recognize scientific and intellectual thought, advance students’ knowledge of classical and modern science, and encourage the pursuit of scientific knowledge for the benefit of humankind.
Tri-M Music Honor Society - The Tri-M Music Honor Society is a program of the National Association for Music Education(NAfME), which focuses on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy. Tri-M is the only music honor society for junior/middle school and high school students in the country. There are more than 1,800 chapters across 50 states and 15 countries. Tri-M involves more than 75,000 students in grades 6-12.
International Thespian Society (ITS) - The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. Thespian troupes serve students in grades 9-12.
The Société Honoraire de Français - The Société Honoraire de Français is an honorary organization established in 1949 for high school students enrolled in French. Its aim is to promote high standards of scholarship and to reward scholastic achievement in French Studies.
The NJCL Latin Honor Society - The NJCL Latin Honor Society is a special designation given to Junior Classical League students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and citizenship in Latin class.
National Chinese Honors Society - The National Chinese Honors Society promotes Chinese learning at Saint Andrew’s School and in our community. Students must have a B+ average and above in their Chinese course study to become a member. Students will make contributions to the club by bringing their positive energy and ideas to motivate the SA community in studying the Chinese language, its culture, and traditions.
National Honor Society for Dance Arts - The National Honor Society for Dance Arts is a program of the National Dance Education Organization. It is one of the most exciting benefits that NDEO offers its Institutional Members like Saint Andrew’s. The Secondary Program (grades 9-12) was implemented in 2005. The Collegiate Program was implemented in 2012, and a Junior Program (grades 6-8) was separated from the Secondary Program and officially launched in 2016. To date, there are over 1,000 chapters in the US, and over 15,000 students have been inducted in the past few years.
